International Armed Forces Day?

I got this e-mail today, inviting me to celebrate International Armed Forces Day by watching some of the sender’s documentaries:

Isn’t International Armed Forces Day a bit of a implicit contradiction? If we should celebrate “all those who serve,” does that mean that killing each other on both sides of a conflict are the “good guys?” (“I am proud of both the Ukrainian and Russian soldiers!”)  That, just for donning a uniform for your country, you should be lauded?

I am not actually knocking American’s military…I both appreciate and thank them for their service. But, I gotta admit…International Armed Forced Day sure seems odd…

P.S. MagellanTV is a great service that you should check out if you aren’t already subscribed.
